Every Morning Turns Into a Sunday

The Sunday morning feeling is synonymous for waking up in a relaxed and well-rested manner after having a full night of sleep. It’s about waking up without worries, stress, or bad vibes – it’s about starting a new day fully energized.

This Sunday morning feeling is what our three founders Reinhard Maier and his sons Florian and Benjamin intended to bring into their customers’ everyday lives, when they started to design clever sleep gear. The result was the revolutionary SEVEN SUNDAYS sleeping system, handcrafted exclusively with Europe’s highest quality foams. Waking up in it will make you feel rested and relaxed – as if every day was a Sunday.

The Heritage of SEVEN SUNDAYS

SEVEN SUNDAYS is a young company with a traditional background: The sleep manufacture is a spin-off of our Swiss foam family manufacture, which has been handcrafting ergonomic seat cushions for Vitra, Walter Knoll, Rolf Benz, DeSede and many other leading designer brands for over 40 years.

In 2010 we received a request from a retail group to produce 5,000 premium mattresses. As we dug deeper into the mattress market, two questions no longer let us sleep peacefully: Can one-fits-all mattresses be a great product, when every person is unique? And does a mattress have to be thrown away and bought over and over again throughout one’s life? Since we came to the conclusion either question had to be answered with no, we founded SEVEN SUNDAYS in 2014 to reinvent the mattress to make it work for every single person and the planet. We are a true family business with two generations of expertise. And we love high-quality and functional products.

Reinhard Maier

Co Founder

The passionate work of father Reinhard Maier started more than 40 years ago with the acquisition of the small company Müller Schaumstoff GmbH. His high quality standards on both the material and craftsmanship and his inventive spirit soon made him a valued development partner and supplier of the European upholstered furniture and chair industry. The most important furniture manufacturers in Europe rely on Müller Schaumstoff. He is the inventor of our patented mattress layer system.

Florian Maier

Co Founder and CEO

Florian Maier, a former management consultant, is the business brain of the family. He is the one who has always been annoyed by the fact that countless design products invented with Maier’s family know-how, never had their own brand on it. Florian is also the one who clearly saw the potential of the mattress with a layer system right from the start. He quit his job, returned to the family business and founded SEVEN SUNDAYS.

Benjamin Maier

Co Founder

Benjamin Maier is the forward-looking, creative mind of the family. Benjamin has been questioning things from a very early age and has consistently slept exclusively on pillows he made himself in his father’s factory. He was also the one who began to question whether mattresses had to be a through-away-product or if there was another and more sustainable way to do it. Benjamin is the idea factory for new products, can be found at every material fair and still enjoys delivering mattresses personally.

A Strong Brand
With a Clear Mission

Our mission can be summarized with the following sentence: “We exist so you can recharge your body, mind and soul every night with a clear conscience.”

Because we see that physical and psychological stress is increasing in the daily lives of many people. Far more than half of the people in Europe regularly suffer from back or neck tension. Mental, stress-related illnesses are on the rise. The length and quality of sleep decreases. Yet sleep is key to an amazing regenerative power – and that’S exactly what we want to tap into with our products. But not at any price. The important topic of “added value and sustainability” is usually given far too little attention in our industry. So in to give you, the consumer, a choice, we acknowledge our responsibility for the environment and climate. The following three goals determine our work:

Boosted the Natural Recovery of the Body,
Mind and Soul During Sleep

Produkte für erholsamen Schlaf

We help people to create their oasis of sleep with the latest sleep technology, based on effective, customizable products – to help the body regenerate more effectively at night and start the day with a maximum level of energy every morning.

Build the Best Possible Product
Without Compromises

We only use premium materials designed for durability and process them in incomparably high manufacturing quality. Together with qualified experts such as the “German Back Pope” Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer, we develop our products based on the users’ problems.

Reduce Unnecessary Harm
to the Environment

Umweltbewusster Unternehmer

We know that artificial foams, and therefore our business activities, are part of the problem. Therefore, we make sure that the materials last as long as possible, that individual parts can be replaced efficiently and that the materials used will be recycled effectively.

Time for a New Mattress:
SEVEN SUNDAYS Revolutionized
the Mattress Market

A real quantum leap: from a standardized mattress to the modular mattress

In the past, generic mattresses were usually made of one material such as cold foam or latex and offered in different degrees of hardness. Today the so-called “One-Fits-All-Mattresses” are flooding the markets. They usually combine different materials and have supposedly the right firmness for all body types. Supposedly everyone can sleep well on them. While for the mattress industry they have become a money printing machine, they are not at all beneficial for humans. With a little common sense, it’s quite obvious that a one-fits-all approach simply cannot work – because every person is different.

Matratzen Revolution

The broken mattress offering made us realize: It is time for a completely new mattress. One that can be individually adapted to the physical needs and comfort requirements of the sleeping person.

This resulted in the modular mattress with our revolutionary, highly functional layer system, which is not only beneficial from a health point of view, but is also incredibly hygienic and resource-saving. Due to the variability, the lying sensation can always be changed, so you can experience our mattress in a totally different way. It will make you want to sleep well even more.

Product Research for
Better Sleep

We are constantly on the lookout for meaningful product ideas, more ergonomic or environmentally friendly materials and innovations for better sleep.

At heart, we see ourselves as passionate inventors who never rest until you sleep your best and wake up feeling energized in the morning. Key quality drivers of our research and development department are our customers, experienced experts and meticulous testing: we listen to people to understand their sleep needs. This led us to develop our height-adjustable pillows, for example. We work closely with professionals from a wide range of disciplines to perfect our products – for example with Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer. Our asset is our creative network of experts built up over 40 years. We subject all products to meticulous tests on the way to series production and optimize until we are convinced to a level that we ourselves want to sleep on them.

Sleep Makes a Decisive Contribution to our Physical and Mental Health.

The credibility of the founders and the professionalism of their work convinced me to become involved in the medical advisory board of SEVEN SUNDAYS – because good sleep is unbelievably important. SEVEN SUNDAYS has succeeded in developing mattresses that specifically support the ability to regenerate – with orthopedically functional layers that can be arranged according to need. An effective solution.

With the Environment in Mind

Until now, mattresses have been designed as disposable products. As a result, they have become a consumer good that places an extreme burden on the environment – unnecessarily so.

In Europe, 30 million tons of old mattresses end up in the trash every year. We want to change this by developing a mattress lasting for life. In doing so, we are slowing down resource loops and closing material cycles: High-quality materials such as foams with a high density to ensure a long durability. Since the layers are not glued together thanks to our smart layer technology, defective parts can be replaced individually without having to throw away the entire mattress.

Because other mattresses are often made of a variety of materials and are often inseparably glued together, it is also almost impossible to efficiently recycle the isolated individual materials.

Only a very small part can currently be recycled. The vast majority of it is landfilled or incinerated. Resulting in the valuable materials being lost forever and Climate-damaging CO2 entering our atmosphere. With our mattresses, every material used can simply be recycled and thus fed back into the material cycle. Given the ergonomic and comfort advantages of foam, we cannot not use it to provide highest quality levels of sleep, however, we can use it responsibly.

Our world needs a new understanding of value creation. One in which sustainability is not just retrospectively attached, yet a fundamental basis of the entire value creation process. With SEVEN SUNDAYS we prove that this idea does not have to remain a dream.

Florian Maier

Florian Maier

Co Founder & CEO

Instead of unnecessarily fuelling a continuous demand for products that people often neither want nor need, we rely on the “less is more” principle. A SEVEN SUNDAYS mattress should not be “consumed” over and over again. It should be used – for as long as a lifetime!

Benjamin Maier

Benjamin Maier

Co Founder

We firmly believe that the best thing a company can do for sustainability is to design its products to last and to be repaired or replaced endlessly so that less has to be consumed. That’s why we focus on durable materials and careful workmanship.

A Product That Fits Into the Present Like No Other.

With SEVEN SUNDAYS, we are proud to have created a unique foundation to benefit off of the increasingly relevant and globally growing market for solutions around healthy and regenerative sleep – entirely with products that offer true added value for every single user.
